Dr. Roy Yanase

Dr. Roy T. Yanase, an internationally prominent prosthodontist, practiced in Orange County for more than two decades, and in Torrance for more than four decades. He graduated from the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC in 1969 and returned for a certificate in advanced training in prosthodontics in 1975. He achieved Board Certification as a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics in 1981.

Concurrent with his private practice in the dental specialty dealing with implant dentistry and other dental restorative procedures, Dr. Yanase has been on the faculty of the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC since 1970. He started teaching Operative Dentistry in 1969, and continued teaching as a Clinical Professor through 1977. He taught until 1996 as an Associate Clinical Professor in the Advanced Education of Prosthodontics department. Currently, Dr. Roy has a dual appointment as a Clinical Professor of Continuing Education (1996) and Advanced Prosthodontic Education (2000).

He was faculty Director of the Odontic Seminar at the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC (1977-2010), and treasurer, past President and founder of the Osseointegration Study Club of Southern California. He maintains a private practice limited to implant, esthetic, and prosthetic dentistry in Torrance, California.

Over the past 38 years, Dr. Yanase has lectured internationally and throughout the United States. His writings on his specialty have appeared in several publications as well as being major chapters in three textbooks. He has also held positions in several national and regional organizations related to his specialty and profession.

Dr. Yanase has been elected a Fellow of the American and International Colleges of Dentists, the American and International Colleges of Prosthodontists, the Academy of Prosthodontics, the Academy of Osseointegration, the Pierre Fauchard Academy and the Academy of Dentistry International.

In 1997, celebrating the 50th Anniversary of El Camino college, Dr. Yanase was selected as one of the 50 outstanding alumni. He has received the Distinguished Service Award for his dedication and service to dentistry, teaching, and the community from the Japanese American Dental Society.

In 2010, Dr. Yanase was elected as President of the American Board of Prosthodontics. The purpose of the board is to examine all eligible candidates seeking board certification and Diplomate status in the prosthodontic specialty internationally. The American Board of Prosthodontics was founded in 1947. Currently there are 1700 Certified Diplomates of the Board of Prosthodontics.

In 2011, Dr. Yanase was recognized for his dedication and contributions to Prosthodontics with the Kenneth Wical Award for Excellence in Prosthodontics - Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. In 2012, he received the American College of Prosthodontists' (ACP) Presidents award. More recently he was honored with the 2013 Pacific Coast Society for Prosthodontics Fred E. Gulick Distinguished Life Member Award and the 2014 ACP Private Practitioner of the year award. As a result, the Psi Omega Fraternity recognized Dr. Yanase as the 2014 Alumnus of the Year.

Stanley H. Yanase, Roy's father, graduated from the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC in 1938 and his son, Rex, graduated in 2002, also from the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC. Dr. Roy and his wife Regina enjoy traveling in their leisure time. His hobbies include Dentistry on postage stamps, dental antiques, and anthropology.

Dr. Rex Yanase

Dr. Rex R. Yanase, a third generation 2002 graduate of the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC, began practicing with Dr. Roy Yanase in 2003. From 2002-2003, he completed a one year General Practice Residency at the VA Sepulveda Dental Clinic (part of the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System). During his residency, he gained clinical experience providing veterans with comprehensive prosthodontic, endondontic, periodontal, and surgical care. He also completed rotations through anesthesia and the emergency room at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center as well as the internal medicine and ear, nose, and throat clinics at the VA Sepulveda.

Dr. Yanase was very active in leadership roles during dental school: he served as his class President for four years, President of his dental fraternity (Psi Omega), as well as the Associated Student Body Vice President of Financial Affairs. For his contributions and leadership, Dr. Yanase was recognized with many senior dental student awards upon graduation, notably a special recognition by Dean Harold Slavkin for outstanding service and contribution, the Lewis E. Ford Memorial Award demonstrating the promise of leadership and exemplifying the highest standards of professionalism and integrity during the four year doctoral program, the California Dental Association senior dental student award, the Delta Dental student leadership award, the Pierre Fauchard Academy student of the year award and the Colgate "right Smiles, Bright Futures" scholarship award for his outstanding efforts as a dental student to improve the oral health of inner-city children in Los Angeles.

Dr. Yanase's leadership has continued since graduation from dental school at both the local (Western Los Angeles Dental Society - WLADS), state (California Dental Association - CDA) and national (American Dental Association - ADA) dental associations.

He has previously served as one of the youngest Presidents of the WLADS. In addition, Dr. Yanase volunteer leadership roles with WLADS have included Presidential Appointee, delegate to the CDA House of Delegates, Immediate Past President, President-elect, Treasurer, Secretary, chair of the Committee on the New Dentist, and Southern Area representative.

At the state level, Dr. Yanase is the currently a member of the The Dentists Service Company (TDSC) task force. He previously served as a member of the Board of Advisors for the CDA Foundation, delegate to the ADA House of Delegates, the chair of the Committee on the New Dentist and member of the Committee on Volunteer Placement and The Dentist's Insurance Company (TDIC) Product Evaluation Committee for 2 years.

At the national level, Dr. Yanase recently completed a four year term on the ADA New Dentist Committee as the 13th District (California) representative, where he served as an ex-oficio to various ADA committees - Council on Ethics, Bylaws and Judicial Affairs, Council on Dental Benefit Programs, and the Council on Access Prevention, and Interprofessional Relations.

Dr. Yanase proudly supports the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC as a Life Member of the Century Club, a USC School of Dentistry alumni association, serving as the organization's President from 2012-2013. From 2003-2008, he served as part-time, volunteer faculty member for the Division IV Primary Oral Health Care, pre-clinical Fixed Prosthodontics course.

Recently, Dr. Yanase was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Dentists (ACD), the oldest major honorary organization for dentists. He is a fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy and participated as a member of Leadership Torrance, a leadership, community, and civic development program through the City of Torrance Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Hamilton Le

A native of Southern California, Dr. Hamilton H. Le was raised in Moorpark, California located on the southern border of Ventura County. Following graduation from the University of California at Berkeley, he spent several years in Boston, Massachusetts receiving his Doctorate in Dental Medicine, as well as a certificate of advanced prosthodontic training from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.

Immediately following completion of his prosthetic training Dr. Hamilton was granted with Diplomate status by the American Board of Prosthodontics for successfully completing his certification. He then returned to Southern California to begin his career in prosthodontics where he enjoys all phases of dentistry, with a focus on multidisciplinary treatment planning for patients requiring removable, fixed, and implant prosthodontics.

Dr. Hamilton is co-founder of the Southbay Marina Study Club and is a current Prosthodontic consultant for a local Spear dental study club. From 2013-2015 he was President of the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) California Section and is the current Chairman of the ACP Private Practice Commmittee. In 2014, Dr. Hamilton was inducted as a fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, an international honorary dental organization.

Dr. Hamilton strives to provide an open communication with patients in an effort to keep them a member of the treatment team. Applying the latest developments in dentistry and prosthodontics, Dr. Hamilton will work with you to develop, plan and engineer your treatment, in an effort to maintain your oral health, function and esthetics. Dr. Warren Tofukuji

Since graduating from the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC (USCSD) in 1978, Dr. Warren Tofukuji's practice in general dentistry has been a part of our office here in Torrance, CA. Now in his 41st year of private practice, he is currently transitioning toward retirement. He is a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, Western Los Angeles Dental Society, and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.

After graduating from the USCSD, he was a part-time pre-clinical occlusion instructor at the School of Dentistry for 8 years. Since 2013, he and other team members have traveled throughout California to volunteer with CDA Cares, a California Dental Association program providing free dental services for the underserved population in different communities.

Besides dentistry, there is a lot more to Dr. Warren. He enjoys playing basketball, swimming daily, and fly fishing with family and friends. Dr. Warren plans to spend more of his free time with his wife of 38 years, Carol, and their growing family. Alyson, the oldest of their two daughters, and her husband Jeff have a 2-year-old daughter (Daylie) and are expecting another daughter in January 2020. Jillian, their younger daughter, just moved to New York to begin her Master's program in Media, Culture, and Communications at New York University.

Dr. Warren loves traveling both locally, to Mammoth for an annual fishing derby, and internationally, to experience other countries. This year will find him in Canada and New York. Next year will find him in Orlando for the American Dental Association Convention, along with family and friends. 2020 will definitely include more babysitting duties and hopefully a bucket list trip to Croatia.
